In light of recent conscious acts of denigration and subsequent reactions we, at IslamicPoetry.org, would like to invite Muslims and non-Muslims of all ages to take part in a contest of English poetry in praise of the most praiseworthy creation, the beloved of God Almighty, His messenger and prophet, Muhammad, Allah bless him and given him peace. |

when i was born my Eyes were closed
& i was told what i would see.
when i got older my Eyes opened;
i didn’t look i just believed.
then i started to See & Look,
Think, Read & Remember-
Words made things complicated;
the Truth i saw was more Simple.
so i went to the teachers who taught
& said “i don’t See what you Teach.”
they said “that’s OK, son: neither do we.
Forget what you See & Believe.”
i said “if i close my Eyes again
& Ignore the Truth for your sayings,
then i would surely be lost.
i’m going to find the Right Way.” |

You look at me and call me oppressed,
Simply because of the way I'm dressed,
You know me not for what is inside,
You judge the clothing I wear with pride,
My body is not for your eyes to hold,
You must speak to my mind, not my feminine mould, |

anyone can say what's wrong
but few really know what's right
it's easier to say no
than commit your whole life
& there's a hypocrite born every minute
commentators need to stop hatin
& be their own critics |

they got hypotheses, theories, even philosophies We got ‘Ilm & Yaqeen; now what they got on these? p.s. ‘Ilm means knowledge, Yaqeen is certainty they base their thinking on theft, random cosmic mistakes & even chimpanzees they’re arrogant; We got pride politics: a device devised specifically to hide lies what can bureaucracy add to Al-Jama’a? Mashura circle is open; they hide in rooms & plot & then they LET you vote, before you choose a road they make sure it goes down the path they wanna go they got your mind in a maze: you slave away for a pie in the sky you haven’t gazed for days |

In The Name Of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
Each night & every nap I dream
I can’t remember what happened I don’t know what they mean
Maybe Shaytaan is playin with me
Are these visions of events my eyes will soon see?
What’s gonna happen to me?
I aint afraid, I’ll give my life
but I wanna die in peace |
